PROFILE
The Employers Consultative Association of Malawi (ECAM) is the only government Recognized Employers’ body in Malawi under the ILO Labour tripartite arrangement. The Association was established in 1963 and registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act. In addition, ECAM is an affiliate member of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) based in Geneva.

ECAM draws its membership from across all types of economic activity in the private and public sectors.

ECAM’s primary role is to promote and safeguard the interests of employers. Over the years, ECAM has taken on several new areas of responsibility with a view to enhance its effectiveness. The Association has been involved in discussions with Government ministries and agencies on pertinent matters relating to the country’s long term social-economic policies.

ECAM represents employers on the National Labour Advisory Council, a tripartite body covering issues pertaining to industrial relations and labour policies as well as on other national councils and boards.
