Services
As
provided for in the ECAM constitution the Association offers a variety
of value-adding services and consultancies to our esteemed member
organizations and clients. The Association maintains competent professionals
drawn from the local membership, external linkages with the IOE
and sister Employer Organizations, notably the Federation of Kenyan
Employers to deliver all the areas of competency detailed below.
In addition ECAM has formed a partnership with the PUM Netherlands,
an association of retired experts who are available to provide consultancy
services to member clients at a reasonable cost.
1.
Industrial Relations
ECAM members are provided with advice, guidance and assistance
on all aspects of Labour Law and Industrial Relations. ECAM consultants
assist members to negotiate collective agreements and represent
members in conciliation meetings. Representations are also made
to the labour courts on behalf of its members.
2.
Management Training and Development
Our Management Training and Development programmes support organizations
to equip the human capital with skills and competencies to deliver
expected results. The courses on offer include such fields as
Industrial Relations, Labour Law, Supervisory Management and Human
Resource Management.

Prevention and Management of HIV/AIDS at the workplace
HIV/AIDS is a national disaster. Workers are the backbone of the
economy. It is of the essence to prevent and manage HIV/AIDS at
the workplace. In liaison with relevant stakeholders the Association
ensures that member organizations are equipped to prevent and
manage HIV/AIDS at the workplace. In addition the Association
offers advice and guidance on other social-economic issues such
as Child Labour and Gender at the workplace.
5. Seminars and conferences
ECAM
organizes national employers ’ conferences and seminars on
topical issues as a means to provide a forum for debate for members.
6. Research and Information
ECAM maintains a library with a comprehensive collection of collective
agreements, Industrial Relation Court rulings books, magazines
and reports. Surveys on salaries and fringe benefits for executives
and non-executives are conducted annually. A monthly Cost of living
survey is also compiled and distributed to members on request.
Ad hoc surveys are also undertaken to obtain the views of employers
on Labour and human resource issues.
7. Job Analysis and Evaluation
In a job analysis, tasks are aligned to specific positions in
a job description to facilitate performance and effective utilization
of human capital. Job evaluation rates and classifies positions
into a rank order to create a grading structure. The outcome of
job analysis and evaluation is readily applied to career planning
and progression among other management decisions. ECAM’s
consultants are available for clients who need to be supported
with this significant process.
8. Review of Terms and Conditions of service
On demand the Association supports organizations in development
and review of their Terms and Conditions of service. Notable companies
that have been supported by ECAM include INDE-Fund Limited, RAB
Processors, Mapanga Furniture and BP Malawi.
Personnel policy statements provide common procedures to guide employee
behaviour and manage interpersonal relationships for compliance
with employment regulations. Procedures create order and harmony
in the performance of tasks and reinforce results orientation.
9.
Talent Search
From
2005, the Association has repositioned itself to offer this particular
service. Matching job specifications to planned roles, individual
qualifications, skills, competencies and experiences is prerequisite
to effective performance of tasks. The service supports employers
in prospecting for the right persons to strengthen the existing
team.
